Eid festival, Introduction.

Our India is a country of different cultures and civilizations. People of many religions live together in India. We share our culture with each other. All types of festivals are celebrated here. There is also an Eid festival among these festivals. Eid festival is celebrated by the people of Muslim society. Two Eids are celebrated in the Islamic calendar year. Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Azha or Eid ul Juha | Eid-ul-Fitr just comes after the month of Ramadan. It is also called Mithi Eid. Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated two and a half months after the Mithi Eid. In India, Eid-ul-Juha is also called Bakra Eid or Bakrid. Here we are writing about Eid-ul-Fitr/Mithi Eid. This festival is basically a symbol of love and brotherhood. People of Muslim society celebrate Eid festival with full enthusiasm. Which starts with the morning prayer.

When is the festival of Eid celebrated?

Eid festival is celebrated on the first date of the month of Shawwal after the month of Ramadan. Which starts with the new moon according to Muslim belief. Which is also called the moon of Eid. Muslim people does fast during the whole month of Ramadan. Eid is celebrated as a gift. After seeing the moon, everyone cheers and congratulates each other on Eid and thanks God.

Why is the festival of Eid celebrated?

Eid festival is a symbol of love and brotherhood. Everyone celebrates this festival together. Muslim people thank God in this festival, which empowered them to keep all the fast of Ramadan. This festival also teaches rich people to take the poor along. Before Eid prayers, all people donate to the poor people, which is called Fitra. Fitra is mandatory for all. The small children are paid for by their families. Fitra is also called Zakat-ul-Fitr. It has to help the poor class whose income is very low and who cannot buy clothes on the festival. When all people give zakat-ul-fitr for the poor, then it is passed on to those poor people as a result of which they also celebrate Eid.

How is the festival of Eid celebrated?

Eid prayers.

On the day of Eid everyone gets up early in the morning and takes a bath and wears new clothes. Perfumes are also applied on ownself. Then after some time after the sun goes out, They goes to nearby big Idgah for the Eid prayer which is also called Dogana. They read Dogana in Idgah. In Namaz-e-Dogana, people pray to God for their fasting and acceptance of their prayers. After the prayers, all the people hug each other. It is believed that he ends all his old quarrels while hugging. Everybody hugging each other and says Eid Mubarak. Eid Mubarak means Happy Eid or greetings of Eid. Everyone comes home and gives Eid gifts and share happiness with each other. Gifts are exchanged. Invitations are given to friends and relatives on food. Many types of dishes are prepared on this day. Such as Kheer, Sevaiya, Halwa, and sweet and spicy things are made. 

Eid Costumes.

No special clothes are fixed for the day of Eid. People wear new clothes on this day. Often, we wear kurta pajamas and topi. Apart from this, they also use perfume.

Children's Eid / Importance of Eid in Children.

Eid day is a festival of happiness for people of all ages, but children are most happy to see it. Because on this day they get some money to spend from their elders with new clothes. Which is called Idi. After this the children go to the nearest fair. In the fair, they swing on many swings and eat various kinds of food items and they also buy many types of toys for themselves. Apart from this, they get Idi from everyone even when relatives go home. 

What does the festival of Eid teach us?

The festival of Eid teaches us to live together and to respect each other. Apart from this, it also motivates us to help the poor people. This inspires us to follow the ideals of Hazrat Mohammed, the last conscience of God. Chief among his ideals are - telling the truth, worshiping God, living together, being kind to the poor, etc.
